Makeover of a Lifetime

Friday, I went for a "spa day" like no other. There was no high end salon, licensed technicians or the promised safety of a posted health department inspection, but simply a boy and his mother in a first grade classroom full of kids and their moms. Yes, I went to Hudson's class and let him pamper me as a Mother's Day treat!

Each of us moms brought our cosmetics, favorite nailpolish, brush and lotion with us and let our child massage us, apply our makeup, paint our nails, and offer us donuts and strawberries. And honestly, as I entered the classroom, I'm not sure if it was Hudson or I that was more nervous... He greeted me with a firm hug and an "I love you" (which I know he means, but he also says when he is nervous, can't think of anything else to say, or wasn't paying attention to the current conversation - male behavior at its finest!). He went on to apply my makeup, massage my hands and feet and paint my toenails. He even attempted to put my hair up in a ponytail, but felt I looked "funny" and took it back down!

Truth is, I had a blast (so did he) and felt a connection with Hudson that I don't get to experience every day. He hugged and loved on me a lot - moments I cherish (I know he will soon decide he can't hug/kiss/talk to me in public - its just not cool).

So next time you are in need of a pedicure, put your kids to work! Take the time to let loose and have fun. It will create memories that will last a lifetime...And who knows, maybe his wife will benefit later!
