Courtesy of 'Reading Rainbow'

Granted, Lavar Burton may be cheesy (and may bring some of you fellow nerds flashbacks of the funky sunglassed dude on 'Star Trek: The New Generation'), but PBS' Reading Rainbow is still a treasured classic around here. I can remember watching it as a child and learning so many things...I don't remember so much about the books they featured as about how toothpaste is made and readied for distribution, or how Coca-Cola was bottled, etc. Even today, I enjoy watching and learning about such things, as do the kids...

A few weeks ago we were all home and a Reading Rainbow featuring the manufacturing of the bowling ball inspired us to make a family outing to our local bowling alley for a fun filled adventure. We had a terrific time.
Hudson loved to knock down the pins, Jake mostly enjoyed playing on the ball-return-machine-thingey, and Cole got a thrill out of throwing the ball himself ("I can do it by myself..."). Cole threw his hands up after every bowl, screamed "oh yeah" and wanted to give everyone high-fives...Heath and I had fun watching their enthusiasm and testing out our skills (which were very rusty from decades of unuse).
